As GTAS Foundation enters Phase Two of its operations, we have structured the budget to not only cover core operational needs but also ensure that staff compensation complies with Tanzanian labor laws. This phase emphasizes compliance with statutory obligations, transparency, and fair compensation, while also accounting for all necessary legal and compliance-related expenses.

The office rent is an expense we pay to a lawyer to use their office as ours until the need for a full time office arises.

2. Staff Salaries & Contributions
In compliance with Tanzanian law, Genuine Tours and Safaris Foundation (GTAS Foundation) ensures that staff salaries account for all statutory deductions, including taxes, pension contributions, and health insurance. Below is the breakdown for the three staff members:

3. Legal Compliance Under Tanzanian Law
Genuine Tours and Safaris Foundation (GTAS Foundation)’s compensation structure is fully compliant with Tanzanian labor and employment regulations. Below are the legal obligations we meet:
Pension Contributions (NSSF/PPF):
In accordance with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Act and the Parastatal Pensions Fund (PPF) Act, Genuine Tours and Safaris Foundation (GTAS Foundation) is obligated to contribute 10% of the employees' gross salary towards their pension. This contribution is shared by the employer and employee, ensuring that all employees are covered under the statutory pension scheme.
Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) Tax:
The Income Tax Act, 2004 mandates that all employers deduct and remit Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax from employee salaries. PAYE is applied on a progressive tax scale ranging from 9% to 30%, depending on salary levels. Genuine Tours and Safaris Foundation(GTAS Foundation) will make the appropriate deductions and submit the taxes to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) in a timely manner.
Health Insurance Contributions:
Under the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) Act, employers are required to provide health insurance to employees. Genuine Tours and Safaris Foundation (GTAS Foundation) ensures that all employees are enrolled in the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), covering medical expenses as per the statutory requirements.
Compliance with the NGO Act:
As an international nonprofit organization, Genuine Tours and Safaris Foundation (GTAS Foundation) adheres to the Non-Governmental Organizations Act, 2002. This act governs all NGO activities within Tanzania, ensuring that we meet the fiduciary duty of transparency in finances and lawful employment practices. All employment contracts, tax remittances, and health insurance contributions are aligned with this legal framework.
Social Security:
Per Tanzanian law, employers are required to make contributions to social security schemes, ensuring employees are eligible for benefits such as retirement pensions, maternity leave, and occupational injury compensation. These contributions, made to the NSSF or PPF, form an integral part of the employees’ total remuneration.

Salary Breakdown Recap:
Staff 1 will begin with a monthly salary of $150, increasing to $200 after six months.
Staff 2 will begin with a monthly salary of $150, increasing to $200 after six months.
Staff 3 will begin with a monthly salary of $100, increasing to $150 after six months .
